What’s a Cajun to do? How do we pick a favorite this year when the game excitement is heightened by the fact that Rajun Cajuns will be present in defensive Cornerback slots on both teams. That’s right, Ike Taylor of Pittsburgh, and Michael Adams of the Phoenix Cardinals, will be in Tampa, FL representing the Cajun heartland in the biggest sporting event of the year – Superbowl XLIII. This is a historical moment for the University of Louisiana – Lafayette. It’s the first time two Cajuns will go head to head in the Bowl.

When we look back, even in recent Superbowl history, we can recall a couple of Cajuns to make the big game. Despite the loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII, Jake Delhomme gave us an exciting game. Of course, Kevin Faulk has brought us a few Super Bowl victories with New England. Let’s not forget Brandon Stokely who has landed himself a set of Superbowl rings, one for each hand. Ike Taylor has the opportunity to match Stokely’s record in today’s game. So, do you choose the underdog and distribute the Super Bowl rings to more Cajuns, or do you pull for Taylor to score ring number two. I, like UL coach Rickey Bustle, am torn. Either outcome, Cajuns will be victorious today.
