I live in Scott, LA, 5 minutes away from The Best Stop (Lucky me :-), and their boudin is very good, indeed, but personally, I prefer the boudin and cracklins at Don's Specialty Meats, which is a few blocks away from The Best Stop. It is just off I-10 at the Scott exit (I-10 exit 97, I think ... Thats sad, I live here and can't remember the exit number) just west of Lafayette, LA. Don's has another location off the I-49 service road in Carencro, LA, just north of Lafayette. If you are looking for good boudin and cracklins, in my opinion, Don's boudin is better. Amoung the locals, it's a toss up as to which is better, 50/50 split either way. So if you plan on coming to Lafayette area, you should try out the boudin at both places and decide which is better... Oh, and don't forget to try some cracklins, which are spicy fried pork skins. They are sometimes hard to chew (if you have dentures or problems with your teeth, consider yourself warned) but they are SOOO good.... you will not be sorry you did!

When I was in Louisiana, I was scared to death to eat boudin, but after I was tempted by my girlfriends, I immediately savored the flavor of the spices and meats. Boudin is delicious. I hope you post something about Cracklings and cajun beef jerky. Two other things I tried while visiting Lafayette, LA . I wish they had food like this where I live.
