There’s something really organic about Alvin Batiste’s work. The first time I saw his art, I took to it immediately. It brings me back to my childhood, visiting my great grandmother’s farm in Morse, LA. It was a simpler way of life than I was used to in the city, but fun at the same time.

When I see Mr. Batiste’s work, I am taken back to a very innocent time in my life. A time when community seemed to have much more meaning than it does today. A time when you knew your neighbors, and they knew you. A time when hyper-consumption of material items didn’t exist. A time when character outweighed wealth…

From time in the school house, MaMaw’s kitchen, or a fais do do, you’ll undoubtedly find happy memories when you look through Mr. Batiste’s artwork. From time spent with loved one’s in their final days, or dealing with close ones in dire need of help, you’ll conjure up these memories as well. The good and bad, Alvin meaningfully captures the spirit of life in his work.

Visit Mr. Batiste’s online art gallery for samples of his work. He is also available to work privately to create personal artwork for corporate collectors and individual art lovers.

  1. Alvin Batiste is certainly an inspiring artist to almost everyone who meets him. When you do actually meet him, his work is even more profound, he represents all of his interesting narratives with a big smile and is so kind and compassionate when talking about them. I think he is Louisiana’s 21st century Clementine Hunter, in that he deserves to be recognized further.
I have not been touched by someone so profoundly in my life time.

  2. Hi Diana,

Thanks for the excellent comment on Mr. Batiste. His work is certainly reminiscent of Clementine Hunters. Anyone not familiar with her work can find it here: http://www.clementinehunterartist.com
